Negar Zoka

Filmmaker · Writer · Paris

French-Iranian documentary filmmaker and writer, Negar Zoka holds degrees from Sciences Po Paris, the Sorbonne, and NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. For over twenty years she has worked with France's major broadcasters — Arte, France 2, France 3, Public Senat — on films exploring identity, society and the world. Iran runs through her work as a constant thread: she directed Permis de rien, an intimate portrait of a driving school in Tehran, and produced numerous cultural films for Arte. A visual artist, she also practices printmaking and has exhibited in Paris since 2020. It is her deep bond with Iran — the country of her roots, her films and her friendships — that gave birth to My Iran.
