Data controller
Negar ZOKA, as the project lead of My Iran, is responsible for the processing of personal data collected on myiran.eu.
Data collected
Memories: first name or pseudonym, country, connection to Iran, testimony, photos, email (mandatory, never displayed). Volunteers: full name, email, country, city, skills, free message. All data is collected with explicit consent.
Legal basis
Processing is based on explicit consent (Article 6(1)(a) and Article 9(2)(a) GDPR). Testimonies may contain special category data (ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs) — separate explicit consent is collected.
Data retention
Published memories: retained as long as the site is active, unless deletion is requested. Volunteer data: retained for a maximum of 2 years with consent renewal before expiration. Rejected submission data: deleted immediately (photos, testimony and contributor data).
Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, delete, port your data, and withdraw consent at any time. To exercise your rights: contact@myiran.eu. In case of dispute, you may contact the CNIL (cnil.fr) or your local data protection authority.
Sensitive data (Article 9 GDPR)
Contributors sharing a memory may spontaneously provide sensitive data (ethnic origin, religious beliefs, political opinions...). The collection of such data is subject to a specific consent request and this data will be processed in accordance with the GDPR. You may withdraw this consent at any time.
